Welcome to 6E ELA!

Be responsible: Set a routine!
1. Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast every morning.
3. Find an IR book that you can't put down.
4. Check the Portal, Email, and Schoology daily.
5. Write important dates in your planner.
6. Refer to the Braves Block Board daily.
7. Stay after school if you need extra help/time.
8. Come to school clean, fresh, & ready to learn!

Dearest Parents and Guardians,
I appreciate your support and feedback. Please email me. Your 6th grader should have an independent reading (IR) book at all times. They should be reading often, and increasing their time spent reading as the year progresses. Every child and family is different, so work with your child to find the best routine that fits your schedule. The town library has an extensive selection of tween/young adult literature. Library cards are free. Please visit often. I am an advocate of independent thinking, creativity, and personal growth. As a parent, you were your child's first teacher. So, you know first-hand how precious every moment can be. As your child's 6th grade ELA teacher, I have the pleasure of spending an hour and a half a day reading, writing, sharing, laughing, discussing, smiling, and reading some more with your child!
Thank you for this opportunity.
Let's have a great year!
Sincerely, Mrs. Katy Avey :)
