Mrs. Holly Hess

It's hard to believe that we are starting the 2nd semester of the school year.  Here are a few reminders to help you be successful for the remainder of the year.

* Remember to charge your Chromebook every night!  This helps you to be prepared for class.
* Use your planner or use Google calendar to write down your homework, upcoming test/quizzes and projects.
* Use Braves Block to complete your homework, work on projects, and/or ask your teachers for help.  You can also stay after school to work on your assignments and ask for help. Teachers are available from 2:30 - 3:00.
* Come to school!  Be sure that you come to school, unless you are sick.  If you miss school, be sure to check in with your teachers and get any assignments that you may have missed while you were absent.

My name is Holly Hess and I am the Instructional Support Teacher (IST) and Read 180 Coordinator at WAMS.  This is my first year in this position.  Prior to this position I taught 8th grade Learning Support here at WAMS.

My job as an Instructional Support Teacher is to comprise a team of individuals, known as the instructional support team, to maximize individual student success in the classroom as needed for academic or behavioral needs. The team works together to implement strategies to achieve success in the classroom.

Students are identified for IST services by the classroom teacher, other educators, administration and/or parents.

The Instructional Support Team process also serves as a screening process for students who may be in need of special education services.

Please feel free to contact me at the school (x1314) or by email anytime during the school year if you have any questions. (holly_hess@wasdpa.org)

I am also the coordinator for the Read 180 program.  Read 180 is a program building reading comprehension, academic vocabulary, and writing skills for struggling students in grades 4 and up.  A branch of this program is System 44.  System 44 is a reading program for the most challenged readers in grades 3 - 12+. It helps students master reading skills, such as phonics, comprehension and writing.
