Mrs. Donna Wynkoop

Welcome to STEM!

Hello. I am Mrs. Wynkoop.  I am very excited to be teaching STEM this year.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  Our class focuses on the practices and competencies for these areas.  My goal for students is for them to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.  I want them to understand everyone makes mistakes.  The difference between success and failure is perseverance.

Some of the activities we do include:

Scratch Programming (6th Grade)
K'Nex Renewable Energy (6th Grade)
Hockey Scholar - Math and Science (7th Grade)
Catapults (8th Grade)
Graphing Calculator Robots (7th and 8th Grade)
K'Nex Gravity Vehicles (all grades)

A little bit about me, I have been teaching at WAMS since 2004.   Prior to teaching STEM I taught 7th and 8th grade math.  I earned my bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown and my masters in teaching from Johns Hopkins University.  I am currently a PhD candidate at Penn State University.  Integrating group work, technology and real-world experiences into the classroom is a goal for me.  If you would like to contact me please e-mail me at
